The City of Melbourne Public Works and Utilities Department will be closing E. New Haven Avenue between Vernon Place and Municipal Lane in order to remove a tree that has become a safety hazard. The tree root growth and upheaval of the sidewalk that has occurred over the years is causing trip hazard concerns and a narrow sidewalk for pedestrians to traverse. This section of sidewalk is heavily traveled as pedestrians walk east and west along New Haven Avenue. 

The work is scheduled to occur on Monday, June 24, beginning at 7 a.m. and extending until 2 p.m. Maintenance of traffic will be provided to detour traffic and pedestrians around the work area.
