Approximately 425 people attended the annual Florida-Friendly Landscaping Seminar on February 19. Held at Eau Gallie High School, the free event featured four engaging presentations:

  • “Creating Habitat for Winged Wildlife” by Skip Healy, Change of Greenery
  • “10 Things Being done to Help the Lagoon That You Probably Haven’t Heard About” by Kathy Hill, Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program
  • “Grow Your Own Delicious Food!” by Sally Scalera, UF/IFAS Extension, Brevard County
  • “Florida-Friendly Landscaping in HOAs and Everywhere!” by Claire Lewis, University of Florida - Florida Friendly Landscaping Program

A recording of these presentations is available on YouTube.

There were also 13 vendors outside the auditorium that attendees visited during breaks and before the seminar started. Love Bugs Bakery provided coffee, muffins and donuts.

The event was planned and organized by the City of Melbourne, City of Palm Bay, City of Satellite Beach, Brevard County Natural Resources Management, Brevard County Utilities Service, and the University of Florida/IFAS Brevard Extension. The partners will be reviewing the feedback provided in participant surveys to develop next year’s seminar.
