International Coastal Cleanup 2022, September 17, Updated Locations

Post Date:09/16/2022 9:20 AM

On Saturday, September 17, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. the City of Melbourne, in collaboration with Keep Brevard Beautiful Inc. (KBB) and the Ocean Conservancy, will be hosting two cleanup sites as part of the 2022 International Coastal Cleanup.

The International Coastal Cleanup began more than 30 years ago when communities rallied together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastlines.

The City of Melbourne invites you to join in on this effort to tackle litter along our vulnerable waterways and lagoon. We have two cleanup locations. Check-in for both sites will be at 8 a.m.

  • Ballard Park, 924 Thomas Barbour Drive. Volunteers will clean along the bank, on the water and around the park. Kayaks and other small vessels are welcome.
  • Front Street Park (2205 Front Street). No kayaks will be available to rent. Please bring your own vessels. Meet at the north side of the boat ramps. The group will paddle around up Crane Creek toward Melbourne Avenue. Rigg’s Outpost’s dock, 990 E. Melbourne Avenue.

To register, please go to our Eventbrite page

You can also call the ECO Division at 321-608-5080 or email Recycle@mlbfl.org to register.

The City encourages participants to bring a pair of gloves, water to stay hydrated, snacks, proper clothing for rough terrain, sunscreen and bug spray. The two site locations will have water from a large jug available. Participants must bring their own water bottles.
