City Debris Contractors to Expedite Hurricane Vegetative Debris Removal

Post Date:10/12/2022 10:49 AM

The City of Melbourne has hired disaster debris contractors to remove vegetative debris (trees, limbs, palm fronds, brush, etc.) that resulted from Hurricane Ian. The debris contractors will be working to collect ONLY disaster-generated debris. The City expects the debris removal process to be completed by mid-November. Your cooperation and patience is much appreciated during this period. Residents are asked to separate their vegetative disaster debris from any other materials.

As you prepare to place your debris curbside for collection, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Do not place debris on top of utilities, for example: cable, phone, electrical, meter boxes, storm drains or fire hydrants.
  2. Please do not place debris in front of or around your mailbox.
  3. Avoid placing debris in front of or around your driveway, as emergency vehicles may need to enter the area.
  4. Please drive with extreme caution in areas with large debris piles.
  5. Please do not block or dump any debris into the storm drains or ditches. This will cause a flood hazard.
  6. Please aid contractors by sweeping excess and loose debris from the street in front of your house.

Please note that this operation is ONLY for disaster vegetative debris. Garbage and recycling in carts, bulky household waste, and with yard waste in resident’s own cans, will be collected by Waste Management on the regular collection days.

For additional information, please call 321-608-5080.
