At approximately 6:27 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, Melbourne police officers responded to Hibiscus Blvd. and Medical Park Dr. regarding a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the pedestrian was found to have sustained life-threatening injuries due to the crash. The pedestrian was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.

Initial investigation reveals a blue Audi SUV was traveling east on Hibiscus Blvd passing Medical Park Dr and struck the pedestrian who was in a wheelchair as they attempted cross over Hibiscus Blvd. At this time, it does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash. The crash is still under investigation.
