Memorial wooden bench at Ballard Park with the river in the background

The City of Melbourne parks have been helping families create memories for generations. Many people wish to place memorials in parks that hold cherished memories of loved ones who have passed. This must be done in coordination with the Parks and Recreation Department. No memorial may be placed privately in a City park. Factors such as placement, consistency, maintenance and sustainability are all considered when placing a memorial.

Memorials include:

  • benches with message
  • trees with plaque in coquina stone
  • plaque in coquina stone
  • naming of amenities (in memory of)
  • Adopt-A-Park Program (in memory of)
